At Codegiant, we are on a mission to simplify software development while building tools that focus on a better UI/UX. At the time of writing this article, we have 1252 users and the feedback has been amazing. Most of our users have been acquired through referrals from existing users.
Feedback like this motivates us to work harder.
Good news — we’ve worked tirelessly to launch our new and improved issue tracker 😎
The issue tracker is one of our most critical tools and we’ve been constantly talking to our users on how to improve the experience. Issue tracking is about breaking work down into manageable chunks, engaging the right people to work on an issue, and informing the rest of the organization about the status of work.
Issue tracking can also be treated as a team todo list with a heavy focus on accountability and progress.
We received great feedback and through that, we have improved the way epics, tasks and sprints work.
Revisiting Epics, Tasks & Sprints
Task is a unit of work that is assigned to a team member
Epic is a collection of multiple tasks
Sprint is a set period of time during which specific work has to be completed and made ready for review
In this new release, we have added a Kanban-style view to our project home-page with Epics, Backlogs & Sprints. There’s a summary on top that makes it extremely useful.
One useful comment that we received was that there needed to be a better way to track the progress of sprints and epics from a high level.
So, we added a visual way to track the progress of an epic.
This visual indicator was also added to sprints.
It doesn’t end here. A user can quickly view a list of all sub-tasks related to a sprint or an epic.

What are we working on next?
We love being transparent, so we thought of letting you know what we’re working on next. We will be adding a Web-based IDE with improved designs for repositories. Also, we will be adding a Solidity IDE on our platform to help blockchain developers.
Tell us what you think about the new issue tracker and about our upcoming launches. We’re always hungry for feedback.
